Why you want an orthodontist prescribing your ortho treatment

Posted on August 20th, 2021

Orthodontists provide care focused on the overall facial growth, bite function, facial and dental imbalances, and smile aesthetics. They are the experts in moving teeth and have been trained, certified, and are licensed in doing so. With an additional 2-3 years of education and over 4,800 hours of training specifically in orthodontic treatment, you know your smile will be in good hands. Although straightening your teeth might seem easy–without the care of an experienced orthodontist, you risk creating more dental problems including tooth loss.

Is your dentist your orthodontist?

Your dentist may offer orthodontic treatment, but it does not mean they are an orthodontist. Only about 6% of dentists go on to graduate from an accredited orthodontic residency program. If you have any doubt about your dentist's credentials, ask if they have graduated from an accredited orthodontic residency program.

Here at Uniform Teeth, you are only ever seen and treated by a licensed orthodontist. It is incredibly important for your health and safety to only allow an orthodontist to move your teeth. We use the latest technology to create a treatment plan specific to you. We use 3D scans and 360º X-rays to determine the healthiest position for your teeth relative to your overall bone structure.

So if you’re considering teeth alignment, we highly recommend coming to one of our conveniently located clinics in Chicago, San Francisco, or Seattle to see one of our licensed orthodontists for your clear aligners or braces.
