Meet Dr. Li

Why did you decide to become an orthodontist?

As the daughter of a chemist father and engineer mother, I was always interested in the sciences growing up. I fell in love with biology in high school under the influence of a great teacher, and decided to major in Neuroscience in college, and was on a pre-med track. During a summer internship in college, I got the opportunity to shadow various healthcare professionals, including a dentist. I realized that dentistry was a better fit for my interests and personality and decided to go to dental school. I chose to specialize in orthodontics when I realized the impact I could have not only on my patients' teeth but also on their confidence and self-esteem.

Why did you choose Uniform Teeth?

Since its inception, I've known about Uniform Teeth as I knew the founder, Dr. Aamodt, from UCSF, where I attended dental school. I was intrigued and inspired by this new way of providing orthodontic care in a more efficient, convenient, and accessible manner. So I was thrilled when the opportunity came up to join the team as an orthodontist.

How does Uniform Teeth's mission align with the way you practice orthodontics?

I truly believe in Uniform Teeth's mission of providing better care and delivering faster results using the power of technology. I love that everything is designed with the modern patient and provider at its heart. The way we do things here addresses many of the pain points of traditional orthodontic care delivery systems that I've experienced in the past.

How would you describe the level of care you give your patients? And what is your care philosophy?

Patient care is my number one priority and it's what guides me in everything I do in my work. My treatment philosophy is focused on providing the best treatment for improving not only the esthetics of the patient's smile but also ensuring long-term health and function of their teeth while taking into account the patient's priorities and lifestyle.

What is most important to you when it comes to patient care?

The most important thing to me is providing personalized care and building trust with my patients. The same set of teeth in different people may often require different treatment approaches, and it's all about finding the best plan that fits each individual patient. I try to learn as much as I can about each patient so I can work with them to design a treatment plan that works with their life and that they feel confident and comfortable with.

How does Uniform Teeth technology support the care you're able to give your patients?

  1. Using the CBCT (3D x-ray) as a part of the treatment planning process ensures that teeth move more efficiently and predictably, leading to fewer refinements and faster results for my patients.
  2. The Uniform Teeth app allows patients to check in virtually and for us to monitor their progress remotely, leading to fewer appointments and less time wasted for both the patient and myself. I can also message my patients on the app directly and that kind of personal communication gives patients the peace of mind that they're in good hands.
  3. Our EMR is designed with the input of the clinical team, therefore it's very user-friendly and not cumbersome like most other dental software out there. It's also all online so I can access it anytime, anywhere.

What sets Uniform Teeth apart from other orthodontic clinics you've practiced in?

Uniform Teeth offers a unique workplace where I'm able to focus on providing the best care to my patients in a modern, technologically advanced environment. The support from the various teams at the company is unparalleled, from customer care, to engineering, to sales, and I'm free to do what I love which is clinical care and treatment planning.

When you're not giving patients beautiful smiles, what are your favorite things to do?

When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling the world with my husband. I also love cooking and baking, trying new restaurants, hiking, watching movies, and listening to podcasts.
